Wednesday night we looked at the second gift mentioned in Luke 2:11 that the Wise Men gave to Jesus... frankincense. When they gave Him gold they were declaring Him a king. When they gave Him frankincense they were declaring Him a Priest.The priest used frankincense in the tabernacle. It was the priest who made the sin offering for the people (after making one for his own sins). The priest was the mediator between God and man. Today we no longer need a priest to get to God, JESUS is declared the priest, the mediator!
For there is only one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. - 1 Timothy 2:5 (nlt)
We don't need a priest to get to God, we have one... and about 2000 years ago, He lay in a manger knowing that one day he would die for the sins of the world to reconcile us to Him.
