Last night was a tough night, saying goodbye to those who have touched our lives. I read a passage of scripture when I said a few brief words about my friends, 1 Corinthians 16:13-16. Here is what it says in the Message...
Keep your eyes open, hold tight to your convictions, give it all you've got, be resolute, and love without stopping (This is what Aaron and Shawn did). Would you do me a favor, friends, and give special recognition to the family of Stephanas? You know, they were among the first converts in Greece, and they've put themselves out, serving Christians ever since then. I want you to honor and look up to people like that: companions and workers who show us how to do it, giving us something to aspire to.
I met Shawn two and a half years ago, over the years he has challenged me in my methodology. He has challenged me to break out of my comfortable little way of doing things and change. Today I am much different and more effective than I was before I met him. Thanks Shawn.
I've known Aaron for years, But it wasn't until about a year ago that God united our hearts in ministry. He has challenged me in my leadership. That's all I can say - really. He has challenged me in so many ways, but they all fall under the category of being a leader. I'm a better leader today then I was a year ago, thanks Aaron.
I share how these two men have touched my life for a reason. Our souls have all been touched by Shawn and Aaron in some way or another. Which way have they touched you? Follow they're example and do for someone else what they have done for you.
(Seriously... think about that - you may want to re-read the previous paragraph.)
Can the above passage be said of you? Live to add value to others and help take others to another level in their walk with God. This life is about others. Thanks Aaron and Shawn for leaving that with us.
