He took a trip to Pensacola this weekend, on the way back, he and the guy he was flying with were flying through some serious storms. At one time, they blanked off the radar. He told me that he was flying through some pretty rough weather. There were tornadoes on the left and the right. The winds in these cyclones were reporting at 240 knots. I guess that's aviation talk for, "If we hit that, we die!" At one point Tim, the guy he was flying with took his seatbelt for a second and was thrown into the roof of the plane. They finally made it out of the sky and onto the ground. As Robby was telling me that story he also said, "God promises a safe landing, never a smooth flight." This is true...
The safe landing may be seeing God's faithfulness as you obey Him, it also may mean waking up in Heaven. Live for Jesus and you'll make waves. Those who don't like to rock the boat, wouldn't get along with Paul who said, "Indeed, those who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus WILL suffer persecution" (2 Timothy 3:12). If you like a smooth flight like me, it ain't gonna happen when you live for Christ. God uses us best when we're out of our comfort zone. If your a believer in Christ you can do one of two things, live for Him or simply exist for Him. Existing takes little effort, living on the other hand takes conscious effort.
Get out of your comfort zone and actually "live" for Him. In doing that remember that God never promises a smooth flight, just a safe landing.
