Middle School Christmas Party

What does spaghetti, a fire, presents, hot chocolate, pool, darts, and "pin Jesus in the manger" have in common? The Middle School Christmas party! Last night 25 of our middle school students met at the Amon's house for their Christmas party. We had a great time. As we got there, some students were playing basketball, others were jumping on the trampoline, and some were checking out the sweet princes playhouse Eugine made for his daughter.

What I was drawn to the most was THE FIRE!!! Not sure what I was thinking, but I showed up in shorts and long sleeves. I rarely get cold, but last night -wow! I had to try and fit into Jorge Torres' jacket (no we didn't get a picture of that). What we did get a picture of was a few middle school girls vandalizing. Just look at what they did to my truck!

I walked out to my truck for something & I found out that someone vandalized it as you can see. Someone wrote a very vulgar statement on it. It's so bad, I can't even share it... ok, I will, it said, "Gators Rule". I couldn't believe it, I thought our kids behaved better than that :-) I grabbed the camera and a few minutes later I found these girls vandalizing Shawn Sherwood's car. I snapped it at just the right time - BUSTED!

We had a lot of fun last night. The Amon's have a sweet game room. Most of us played pool & darts, while others played pinball and guitar hero. I found out that I'm not that good at darts. I think Shawn and Aaron had the game rigged!

Shawn Sherwood was in charge of games, so you knew you could expect the unexpected. Have you ever played, "pin baby Jesus in the manger?!?" Yeah, I didn't think so. For being blindfolded and spun around 27 times with baby Jesus in her hands, Ashley Fosegan did a pretty good job (Even if Jesus ended up sleeping upside down on the floor).

For dinner we had spaghetti and salad. It was really good. It felt like it was 20 degrees outside so everyone had hot chocolate. Since the Amon's aren't "coffee drinkers", there was none. I'm grateful that they found some Don Fransisco Hazelnut Cinnamon coffee way back in the pantry. It was good! I enjoyed a cup of it while Tom Weldon gave us a great message on doing the right thing. After that we had a gift exchange, and again the youth pastor got a raw deal. The gift I opened up was some $.99 princess smell good spray. I was looking for that Starbucks card! After making smores, we called it a night. In spite of the subfreezing temperatures, we had a great time! To all of the middle school leaders who helped out, thanks so much for a great night!

I googled middle school christmas games and you came up on the list! I'll try the "pin the Jesus in the manger" idea tonight. It cracked me up. Keep up the good work, thanks for posting.
