High School Christmas Party

Tuesday night the high school ministry went over to Holly Farms for our annual Christmas party! For the most part, we just hung out by the fire. Aaron Caulder and I went over to see Ken Manning where we got firewood, enough to fill my truck bed and a trailer. The next time you see Aaron, ask him about his encounter with a bobcat, or was it a cougar? With Joel's stack of forklift palates, we had the fire stoked! Monday night at the middle school party, I was frozen, last night the smell of burning flesh was in the air. Wow, that fire was hot! After a few chili dogs, we all exchanged gifts. Redneck wrapped up his own underwear for his gift. Whoever got them didn't want them (big surprise), so we decided to toss them in the fire. Apparently Brian is attached to his realtree draws, he went after them in the fire & felt the heat, ouch!

Shawn Sherwood shared a message from the bible on the insignificance of Christmas. He shared how a seemingly insignificant girl, gave birth in an insignificant city, her infant Jesus was laid in an insignificant place and grew up in the insignificant city of Nazareth. The Christmas story has insignificance written all over it, from the worlds perspective. But, from God's point of view, everything was significant. Shawn challenged us to be used by a God who uses the foolish (insignificant) to profound the wise. I was encouraged by it. To everyone who helped, thanks for giving us a great night. To the Reinhardts, thanks for letting us come out Holly Farms. We had a great time!
