Bringing Jesus to St Auggie

I went to Walmart today. Now that'll put you in the Christmas spirit, with all four registers open for the 37 people in line! Anyone want to come to my, "I have a bad day every time I go to Walmart" support meeting? Sorry... Where was I? (ADD and it's only the 4th sentence! Wow, the lights on my Christmas Tree are shinny...) Oh yeah, Walmart. In line at the deli, I was handed a bag of Sara Lee Smoked Turkey. I thought about the Stargazing message Wednesday night... "giving ourselves to God, so we can be used by Him to bring Jesus into the world." We talked about some easy practical ways to do that, one was just saying Merry Christmas to people. As the deli lady handed me my smoked turkey, I replied with a simple, "Have a Merry Christmas." Instantly her face lit up. I said the same thing to the cashier on the way out.

Simple! Yet, it felt so good to say. Make it a goal to tell someone "Merry Christmas" everyday for the next two weeks. You don't have to say, "Merry Christmas, Jesus came to this world, and had to be born in a manger because no one had room for Him. He died for your sins, and if you don't give him your life, you're going to hell!" Now, If God leads you... you should be obedient. With all the controversy today over "Christmas", we can bring a little Jesus into the world, by telling people, "Merry Christmas". Who knows it may lead to a witnessing opportunity?!?

Wednesday night I gave everyone an opportunity to help another church down the road bring Jesus into their community. Many of you know Mike Lewis. He was the youth pastor at Promise Land before I came along 4 1/2 years ago. He has started a church in St. Augustine Florida. It's called Providence Bible Church. A few months back, I asked Mike what we could do for him, here it is. Mike had 3000 door hangers made up to invite people in the community to their Christmas Eve service. On Friday December 21st we are planning a trip down to St Augustine. There were about 25 students that said they could go and help pass them out. I am writing this to you students, parents, and other adults in the church as an invite to you as well. We would love to have a big group drive down there and do some kingdom work for a few hours. Oh yeah, and National Treasure part two "book of secrets" comes out that day. Depending on the the reviews from plugged in online. We may unofficially go see it together on the way back. If you are interested in helping us pass out some door hangers, let me know. You can email me here: kevinsoffice@aol.com or just leave a comment on the blog below.
