Jersey Worthy

Amber and I went to the Monday Night Football game last night, Jacksonville vs. Indianapolis! Thank you to that person who gave us the tickets!!! We had a blast. Don't tell anyone but Amber pulled for Indy! I told her that if she got into any trouble, I wouldn't be much use to her. Amber can run 10x faster than me right now. Well, honestly I can't run at all. It was ok though, we were surrounded by nice "unintoxicated" Jag fans. It was the first Monday night game I have ever been to. Jaguars got some crazy fans. I ran into this guy at the stadium. Do you recognize him??? Let me give you a hint: He's married to Kaitlin Soltis :-) As Amber and I were entering into the gates, we looked around and saw one of the most ridiculous looking fans I have ever seen. He was wearing a Peyton Manning jersey, a Gilligan hat, and a pair of jean shorts that were shorter than Richard Simmons workout clothes. I was embarrassed for him! Amber and I looked at each other and then she said, "If Peyton saw that guy he'd tell him, 'Dude take the jersey off!' " I agreed... then I got to thinking (I know, that's dangerous), I wonder if God ever thinks that way? I mean, does God ever feel like telling us, "Dude if you're gonna act like that, take the jersey off!"

If you call yourself a christian, here's a news flash: YOU SHOULD ACT LIKE ONE! Are you Jersey worthy? I'm not saying we don't screw up from time to time, I'm just saying that we should stop and think of who we represent. We should walk worthy of Christ. Paul prayed that for the believers in Colossae. He said it like this in Colossians 1:10: "Walk in a manner worthy of the Lord"(esv). Are you jersey worthy?

Think of the place you work, the school you go to, the people you live by. Do they know you are a believer? I hope so. If they do, you're not just another neighbor. They are looking for a reason to believe. They may be also looking for a reason not to believe, if they haven't found one already in someone else. Being a Christian isn't to be taken lightly. Paul also gave the same group of people this piece of advice...

"Conduct yourself wisely towards outsiders,
making the best use of the time." - Colossians 4:5 (esv)

An "outsider" is another word for people who don't know Christ. They are looking at us. I think most of them want to believe, they just haven't seen much proof that Jesus Christ really does change lives. If He has changed your life, then act like it. We're not perfect, we sin. All I'm saying is that, before we do something dumb, we should stop and ask ourselves: "Is this jersey worthy?"
