Grace like rain

"Hallelujah grace like rain!" Yes that's the name of a song, and yes that's what's going through my mind right now. Here's why, in short, "See ya at the pole" was NOT this morning, it's next week. I am grateful that it began to pour as I arrived at Ed White this morning at 6:20am. If it had not, I would have gotten out of my truck and possibly could have been the only one around the flag pole. What would I think? "Wow, this is the most ungodly school in the county, no one is out here." All along I had the wrong day. How close I came to being judgmental in my heart, spared by the rain.

All too often, believers make judgment calls in their heart when they don't have all the facts. Trust me, you can see it in your eyes. You don't ho voice it, people just know. Tonight when I found out from my students that SYATP wasn't this morning, I had a wake up call that could have been a "close judgment call." Before we do that, we'd better get all the facts first.

Next time I feel my heart "making a judgment call", I'm gonna ask myself, "could I be wrong?" I'm gonna think of the day when God was gracious to me and spared me from a lot of embarrassment by letting it rain. Till then, I look forward to next Wednesday as students across America gather together and pray for their schools.
