Don't wait on God

There are 34 minutes left until December 6th is no longer here. I missed reading Oswald Chambers this morning, so before I went to bed tonight, I decided to read it... wow!

Here's an excerpt:

"Waiting for God to act is fleshly unbelief. It means that I have no faith in Him."

Don't wait on God. To understand where Oz is coming from read the rest here.

Where God is aiming

Last night we began a new series entitled Fuel, more on that to come... we talked about what we read FUELS us. This morning I was reading Oswald Chambers. When I see a bow and arrow, I'll now think about myself in God's hands. Here's an excerpt...

  • "A saint's life is in the hands of God like a bow and arrow in the hands of an archer. God is aiming at something the saint cannot see, and He stretches and strains, and every now and again the saint says - "I cannot stand any more." God does not heed, He goes on stretching till His purpose is in sight, then He lets fly."

Do you ever wonder what in the world is God doing in your life?!? I do, I think we all do. We have to remember that the position he has us in now is shaping us for what's next. The position: "aimed" at His purpose. We can't see the target goal, but He can! He has full confidence that after He has stretched us and lets us go that we will hit the target right on and become what he has been shaping us for.

But for now, we wait in His hands & trust where He is aiming us...

Missed it!!

This morning, as I was spending some time with God, Oz had sometihing interesting to say, (You can read today's here). He said:

"Whenever we realize we have not taken advantage of a magnificent opportunity, we are apt to sink into despair. But Jesus comes and lovingly says to us, in essence, "Sleep on now. That opportunity is lost forever and you can’t change that. But get up, and let’s go on to the next thing." In other words, let the past sleep, but let it sleep in the sweet embrace of Christ, and let us go on into the invincible future with Him."

I love to surf! (Well, at least try to.) When your surfing, timing is everything. If you don't paddle into a wave when you see one, you'll miss it. If you miss one, you should pack it up and go home! Of course not, that'd be stupid! Everyone knows that another wave is just moments away (here in Jacksonville it may be a "many moments" away). If you miss it, you just look for the next one and take it!

Ever missed an opportunity? Sure you have and so have I. It makes us feel terible! Sometimes we think, "Well, that's not happening again, better pack it up and go home." It's true, some missed opportunities will never come back around, others may. One thing is for sure, God wants you to get back up and grab the next opportunity. In the words of Oz, "Let the past sleep & let us go on with Him!"

Oswald chambers is an excellent short devotional that will make you think. You can buy one for $5 or you can get the free online version

TGIF

TGIF! Have you ever been the victim of ungratefulness? If you are a parent, I can read your thoughts, "... ungrateful kids!". If you haven't read Oswald Chamber's My Utmost for His Highest today you need to. As I read this morning, Oz (That't what I call him, well if he were alive today that's what I'd call him, we're on a first name basis) shared how we aren't put on this earth to be saved and sanctified. WHAT? Sure sounds like we are. The problem with that is that it happens once. The moment you give your life to Christ you are saved and positionally sanctified. So why does God leave us on this earth? Why not take us up to be with Him after we get saved?

We're here, and I quote Oz, " To be at it for Him!" Sounds like a pep talk. Oz ended this mornings thoughts by saying the way we live our life is how we say "thank you" to God for His unspeakable salvation! In 2 Corinthians 9:15, Paul expresses thankfulness to God for the gift of salvation that is too wonderful for words!

Are you thinkful to God? Sure you are. How are you expressing it?
