Wednesday night we began a new series entitled 21. It will be a three week series on prayer. One area that "Christians" are weak in is prayer. Have you ever tried to pray for a certain amount of time? Or do you just pray for God to bless your bacon double cheese burger to your health (that's on odd prayer isn't it). Why don't we pray??
- Maybe we feel like God isn't listening?
- Maybe we can't concentrate (I've been there...)
- Maybe we feel that God didn't answer the last time we prayed?
- Or maybe it's just that we don't know how?

Jesus told us in Matthew 6 how to pray. He said, "Pray in this way"... In talking to God we should remember two words: Recognize & Request
James 4:2-3 tells us that when we do ask God for things we often ask with wrong motives. Here's how we make sure that our motives line up with the will of God, we recognize. That's what Jesus said in Matthew 6... "God in heaven, holy is Your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done".
In other words, we should tell God that it's all about Him and His will - not ours. When we recognize God for who He is and pray for His will to be done, then our hearts will line up with His and we can make our request known to Him.
During this series on prayer the middle school trailer will be opened at 7:30 Tuesday and Thursday nights for us to pray as a group. We challenged our students to pray for 5 minutes a day, next week well challenge them to pray for 10 minutes a day, and on the third week - 15 minutes a day.
This week remember two words: Recognize and Request. Recognize God for who He is, line up with His will and then make your requests known to Him.
(Next week: 21.2 "God talking to us")
