FUEL: Comfort Zone

Powered by Podbean.com

Where is it that you like to go to get comfortable? On the couch? In your bed? How about an over sized Lazy-Boy? Ever taken a nap in a hammock? Being comfortable is a good thing, but it can be a bad thing.

Being comfortable does not FUEL our relationship with God, it siphons it!

God's agenda is PEOPLE. Who else is He going to use to reach out to people besides us? The problem with reaching people, is that it makes us uncomfortable. I wonder how uncomfortable it was for Jesus to put His shredded back on a rugged cross? When we are more concerned with our comfort than we are about reaching out to people, it means one thing... we're selfish!! It means we're lukewarm, not hot, not cold. That makes Jesus SICK! What do we do to FUEL the fire in our relationship with God??

If you want to FUEL your relationship with God, then you're going to have to get out of your own comfortable little world and...

  • Go places you normally wouldn't go

  • Talk to people you normally wouldn't

  • Not care if some religious people (church people) get mad at you

  • Do things that you can't to on your own strength

  • Care more about what God thinks of you , then what other people think of you

  • Be willing to let your "image" get hurt

  • Be willing to let your reputation be hurt

  • Make yourself vulnerable

  • Make yourself available

  • Roll up your sleeves and gets your hands dirty

All this is inconvenient to us. It will make us uncomfortable. It's ok, because this life isn't about YOU, it's about other people. God's got people to reach! Are you willing to get out of your comfort zone? Or will you tell God that He can get someone else?

Getting out of our comfort zone will FUEL our relationship with God!

whoa dying to self being available and putting others first. I am always reminded of the verse in Matthew 20:28 "just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many."

Honestly my hearts cry is to be like Jesus. Give up the whiney it's all about me and my entitlement to live only in my comfort zone, attitude. Get out of everybody elses yard (aka business) and stay in mine. Ok I am about to preach so I better go!
