This morning Amber and I took the kids to the zoo. When we got there, we saw a ton of cars and 4-5 school buses. I guess it was field trip day. For the first half of the zoo Lily was stoked about seeing all the animals. As I held her she tried to reach out and touch them frantically. She calmed down when we saw the giraffes. Here is a candid shot of Lily, I know she's my kid, but I think she's beautiful!!
When we went by the monkeys (you know the ones you can hear for miles away), One of them saw that I was eating an orange so it scaled the cage and followed as we looked at it (no, it didn't "scale" the cage and get out). In return, it gave us a pathetic Im starving look. Madi said that she felt bad for the monkey cause we couldn't feed it. I told her that those monkeys eat better than we do. I explained to her that there are people that care more about animals than humans (I don't know why I thought I could have a conversation with her about animal rights activists). She said, "Dad I really care about animals!".
We went on to these baboon looking monkeys, the ones with the gross lookin' red butts. I said to her, "Madi, aren't you glad God didn't give us red butts like them?". I thought it was funny, she didn't. I found out she's a little conservative (like her mother). She basically rebuked me saying, "Dad, those people can hear you, you shouldn't say that in front of them." I just laughed (inside).
We had fun, for the rest of the day we went to the kids zone and played on the slide and in the waterpark. I had a great time with my kids today.
