The Venti Life 3: The Rock vs. The Sand

Wednesday night was our third message in our "Venti Life" series. It all spawns out of John 10:10 where Jesus said that he came to give us abundant life. We looked at Matthew 7:24-27 where Jesus talked of two men who build (Venti Size) houses, one on the sand and one on the rock. One of the men was living The Venti Life, the other one THOUGHT he was living The Venti Life when all he had was washed away by the storms of life. How sadly we can be mistaken by thinking we are living The Venti Life, when really we're not...

These two men had one thing in common, they both heard the words of Jesus (The Sermon on the Mount). Everyone who sits in a church service or reads their bible at home hears the words of Jesus. Just because we read the word or go to church doesn't mean we'll live the abundant life.

What separated these two men is what they DID with what they heard. Only the one who heard and obeyed the words of Jesus actually lived The Venti Life!! There's that word again, "obedience". In week one, we saw it in Joseph as he obeyed God in every situation. We saw it in the life of Job last week as he wrestled with God, finally yielding in obedience to Him. They key to the abundant life is obedience to God.
