Monday was my day off, it was also a daddy Madi day (after I mowed the grass). Madi colored Sean Byers a picture and I asked her if she wanted to deliver it personally. After visiting him, we went to see Nim's Island together & shared a $5 bucket of Popcorn (only 3 bathroom trips during the movie!). I LOVE ONE ON ONE TIME WITH MY KIDS!!
As a pastor (or believer) you make visits to hospitals to minister to people & to show them that someone loves them. It's our jobs as parents to disciple our children & to teach them how to minister. Words aren't enough, watching us model it out will make the difference (Remember that we are teaching our kids to be what we already are).
Madi is only 4 years old, but Amber and I still try to teach her to think about others. Amber has taken the time to help Madi make cards for soldiers in Iraq. Madi loves the fall when she can be a part of shopping for little girls less fortunate for Operation Christmas Child. Living in the greatest country in the world can make us selfish! It's our job as believers to live life looking less at ourselves and more at others. I think Paul said it best...
"Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others" - Phil 2:3
