There's a rumor going around that pastors walk closer to God than everyone else. That we hardly ever sin and do things right all the time. The truth is that sometimes we get in a hurry, cut people off, and are down right rude to others. We don't mean it (just like you don't), we just don't walk in the Spirit all the time.
Friday is the day I go see my buddies in the hospital. This particular visit was located in a place I had never been before, almost to the beaches. I got lost, I was in a hurry, it was raining, and my wipers weren't working that well - which added to my frustration. When I finally found the place I was completely walking in the spirit! (I've been known to lie before). Upon leaving, my mind was racing about all that I had to get done that afternoon to prepare for the weekend and FNL that night. As you know there was a monsoon hanging over Jacksonville Friday. As I pulled out of the parking lot, it was still raining, and I was in a hurry. Apparently, I couldn't see where I was pulling out from, because when I left the parking spot I had backed into, I felt a bump. "I just ran over a small animal!", I thought to myself.
I turned around to see what I ran over. I didn't run over anything, I was just getting back onto the concrete. OOPS! Mud all over what appeared to be a brand new white car. As I was driving out, I felt terrible. I would never do this on purpose, so I turned around and quickly snapped a pic.
Yeah there's a rumor we need to set straight that pastors do things right all the time. We get in a hurry, get in bad moods, and conveniently don't make right the wrong we've done. Remember that we run the same race you do. Oh yeah, and if you are reading this blog and are the owner of this white car... I guess I owe you a free car wash.
