Guest Blogger: Steve Whitcomb

Today's guest blogger is Steve Whitcomb. Most of you know Steve, those of you who don't...Steve is a founding member of Promiseland, has recently been called into the ministry.

I awoke this morning at 5:45 with a troubled mind. My thoughts were filled with uncertainty over my present circumstances and my future plans. Since becoming a casualty of corporate downsizing 4 months ago, I've tried to enjoy and make the most of my time off. However, this morning my mind was caught in a whirlwind of trying to answer questions that I was asking myself. The more I thought, the more anxious and uncertain I became. My mind was in a trap. Then suddenly I remembered Isaiah 26:3, "You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You."

Here was the remedy for my ailment of uncertainty! Keeping my mind stayed (focused) on God. I had allowed my mind to be stayed on my circumstances rather than God and the result was mental torment. As I began to focus on God and His abilities, His faithfulness, His love, and His concern for me, my mind was at peace. It was perfect peace. That's the best kind of peace to have! It only comes when we continually choose to focus on God and trust Him with whatever is causing us uncertainty. If you're feeling uncertain right now about your present or future circumstances, try focusing on how wonderful God is and then tell Him how much you trust Him ... He won't let you down.

Hey Steve, Sonny Betros here. Isaiah 41:10 always helps me. BTW how is your sister? Last time I talked to her she was in missions. Yeah that was many many moons ago! God Bless!
