Winter Jam '08

Wow! Winter Jam was pretty awesome. We ended up taking 52 to join the other 8,000 at Veterans Memorial Arena Friday night to listen to a few bands and hear Tony Nolan preach. Don Blanton was leading our group as we drove down town. He said and I quote, "I'm gonna try and sneak us in the back way, so don't think I'm crazy." He took us on roads I've never been on before. One road was slammed with partol cars on both sides. I kept rehearsing in my mind over and over again, "Yeah officicer it's alright, were with Chief Blanton." Knowing every street in Jacksonville is a positive thing. He's a great man to have with us!

Though there were a few bands that really rocked (ok, Skillet), alltogether it was really a night of worship. I think most people have heard the song that New Song sings called, "Arise My Love". If you've ever been at an Easter service, you've probably heard it. Well Newsong performed it live. Holy Cow, I had some "serious chillage" going on! There is nothing like uninhibited worship of God! At one point in the night I looked around and saw some of our students standing on their feet, passionatly worshiping God!

That was an incredible sight to see!

At that moment I felt lucky to pastor students who love God so much. Seriously, it was an awe struck moment for me. After all the loud music, flash pots, fireworks, Tony Nolan, and passionate worship... Mercy Me ended the night by leading us in a simple a cappella chorus of "I love you Lord" as they walked off the stage!
