“Me, become legendary? Are you kidding me?!?
You’ve obviously mistaken
me for someone else!”
That's usually the response we give God when He whispers to us what He wants us to become. God has destined us to become legendary. Disagree? Why would He desire greatness in our life? Can you think of some legendary people? Earnhardt, Elway, Mozart, Jordan, Dylan, Elvis, Hitler, ... some contributed to society other took away, but they all have one thing in common: They had a stage to speak from. Everyone heard their voice. When they spoke, people listen. God desires greatness from us so that from that platform, we can shout out the glory of God!
Wednesday night was the first message in a series entitled I AM LEGEND (no it has nothing to do with Will Smith or his movie). It has everything to do with our students dreaming big dreams of how God wants to use them. It's ok to think that we are just average... because right now, maybe we are. What's awesome about it is that in 1 Corinthians 1:26-31 God tells us that He uses average people!!!
In the weeks ahead, we will look at legends of the bible. From Moses to Mary, they also had one thing in common, when told what God wanted to do with their life, they all thought God had the wrong person. If God gave you a glimpse of what he desired to do with your life, what would be thinking? God took ordinary, average, people in the bible and used them to do extraordinary things for His glory. Could God want to do the same thing with your life?!? Would you be willing to dream about how God wants to use you? Does He want you to "become legendary" for His glory!
