Thanks-Giving

Thumbing through Outreach Magazine I came across a pastor in Amarillo Texas who challenged his people to give. He called it Paid4u. They created a website where people can post success stories of how they were able to give or how they were given to. I immediately thought it was a great idea and wanted to share about Thanksgiving from that angle tonight.

If you weren't at church for our Thanksgiving service tonight, I challenged everyone to express their gratitude in a different way than just verbally giving thanks. We had business card size cards that said "PD4" on one side and a gospel presentation on the other side. It would be awesome to show our thankfulness to God by giving to others, randomly, to complete strangers. Here are some ways to do that: paying for someones gas (or at least $20 of it), paying for someones groceries (you might want to stand in the 10 items or less lane), buying the person's food behind you at a fast food drive through, or simply choosing a table at a restaurant and picking up the bill - anonymously (In the context of giving, Jesus said not to let your left hand know what your right hand is doing). The only catch is to give them a PD4 card to let them know that not only was their bill paid for, but that their sins could be paid for as well. Giving to express our thankfulness and sharing Christ at the same time, what a way to observe Thanks-giving!

As I was pulling away from the McDonald's drive through this afternoon I thought, "Why didn't I just pay for someones meal?!?!" One reason is that there was a minivan behind me with 12 kids in it, just kidding. I guess the real reason is that I didn't have one of those nifty little cards with me. Tonight Amber asked me if there were any cards left, that it would be awesome to do that for someone when we travel up to Atlanta for thanksgiving. If there are any left I think I will grab a few tomorrow when we leave. I would love to make some more for anyone interested in them. Just email me: kevinsoffice@aol.com and I will be happy to print some more up. In the meantime, have a wonderful thanksgiving - giving thanks for the blessings God has given to us! Happy Thanksgiving! - Kevin
