The Goodness of God II

Today I spent the day with my kids. Mostly, we played outside together. While outside, we spent some time in a swing that My father and I installed a while ago. It has a vinyl seat and is beginning to crack. I remember the old swings with the wooden seat. So I fumbled around in the garage and found some wood and made her a swing seat. My father n law would be proud, (to put two pieces of wood together is a big deal for me). I attached it to the ropes, and let Madi swing. She said, "Daddy, why did you make this for me?" My immediate response was, "Because I love you and want you to be happy." Then it hit me, God used the relationship with my daughter to show me a picture of the goodness of God. I didn't give her a swing so I could get something from her?!? I made her a swing because I love her and love to see her happy! Let me remind you again of something about the goodness of God, "God never gives to us in order to get something from us!" He gives to us because He loves us! Here's just a few of the many verses in the Bible about the goodness of God...

"Everyone will share the story of your wonderful goodness; they will sing with joy about your righteousness. The Lord is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. The Lord is good to everyone. He showers compassion on all his creation." - Psalm 145:7-9 (NLT)
