It could be something quite simple

Getting everything lined up for Catalyst this week included getting a refill on an anti-inflammatory that I needed for my back. There were two drive thru lanes for the Walgreens pharmacy. I was pulled up by the actual window, another car pulled up beside me by the "bank teller suction tube thing." Upon getting my prescription, I opened the bag to see if it was right, cause no matter what kind of drive thru it is, there's a good chance they're gonna get it wrong. The next thing I see is the pharmacy tech violently banging on the window with her hand trying to get the attention on of the man in the other lane. Now this man had been waiting for some time now. I look over at what's going on and he's staring at the "suction tube thing", as if he is waiting impatiently for his meds. I could hear the pharmacy tech's voice thru the monitor in his lane. "Sir! Sir! Can I help you?!? Sir!" He couldn't hear or see her trying to communicate with him.

In Matthew 5:8 Jesus tells us that the pure in heart will see God. He also says in Psalm 11:7 that those who walk right will see His face. In his book, the prophet Isaiah writes some pretty strong words. Verse 42:18 says this, "Hear, you deaf, and look, you blind, that you may see! (esv)" Who was Isaiah writing such "in your face" words to? He was writing to Israel, who failed to hear and see God because of idols. Yeah, they had graven images, but we have: money, friends, popularity, family, husbands, wives, children, automobiles, boats, clothes, jobs, TV, a girlfriend, a boyfriend, sports, an Xbox, the computer your reading this on, music, sleep, or anything else that gets put before God. You know what it is. What's obstructing your view? What's in between you and God that's preventing you from hearing Him or seeing Him? It could be something simple. It could be something so small, yet is a major obstruction to your communication with God. What is it??? If your thinking about something right now, that's probably the Holy Spirit's prompting. Most of the time its not some major thing, it's something simple.

Back to the Walgreens drive thru pharmacy... Why couldn't this man hear that the technician was trying to communicate to him so loudly? Well, it was quite simple and actually quite comical. As I looked over to see why he couldn't hear her trying to get his attention, I saw what it was, he had his window rolled up! I'm not gonna lie, I sat there and laughed for a while. After pulling myself together, I even honked my horn to try to get his attention so I could motion to him to roll down his window. One simple touch of the finger on the power window button (or maybe if this elderly man had remembered to put on his glasses), could have made all the difference in hearing and seeing someone who was trying to help him. So, what is it for you? What's keeping you from hearing or seeing God? Remember it could be something quite simple.
