Last night I traveled out to Trinity Christian Academy to watch some of our middle school students play a football game. They were playing Baldwin Middle. James Wingate and Ryan Harper were playing for Baldwin, not to mention Katie Kalina cheering. On the TCA side were Hunter Torres, and Luke "The Roach" Burns. I enjoyed the football game, sitting with some people from Promise Land, and watching Jorge Torres down a tray of chili cheese fries. (Don't let him fool you, he doesn't eat veggies all the time.)
With two minutes left in the game, Trinity was ahead by at least two scores. I couldn't believe it, Baldwin recovered an onside kick. I thought to myself, "What am I gona miss in two minutes?" I still ain't moving very fast, so if I waited till the game was over, everyone would have still beat me out of the parking lot - including the clean up crew. I decided to make my decent down the stairs towards the parking lot. Walking across the field, I hear the sound of loud cheering... then, I hear Paul Woods' voice over the loud speaker celebrate a Trinity touchdown after an interception. I just laughed and thought to myself, "I missed it."
The majority of people that receive this blog are people in ministry, students and adults alike. I know sometimes things get tough. As someone once said, "Anything worth doing is never easy". When it gets hard, lets be honest, we think about quitting. We think about walking out. "Hey, there's only two minutes left, what can I miss, right?" 2 Corinthians 2:9 says we haven't seen, heard, or even imagined what God has for those who love Him. God has some incredible thoughts on how he wants to use you. His thoughts towards you outnumber the sand (Psalm 139:17-18)! Wrap your head around that!?! Ephesians 3:20 tells us that He can do more than we ask or even THINK UP! Think about this, if you walked away this past year, what would you have missed? I can think of a whole lot that I would have missed. What can really happen in two minutes? A whole lot! Don't give up!!! God's best is just around the corner! Galatians 6:9 talks of reaping and sowing. That's a principle from God's word that we can count on! It reads:
"Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season,
we will reap, if we do not give up." (esv)
Some incredible things may be just ahead. I encourage you to stay in there! Don't quit! We all know we would regret it if quit now, then said to ourselves, "I missed it!"
